Bomber Jacket

The bomber jacket is a cool classic that will see you through the season. Keep it clean in all-weather leather, or hit refresh with bold prints and mixed-up texture

Bomber jacket is such a classic item you can wear it even when it’s not on trend”, and he couldn’t have been more right. Right now the bomber jacket is on trend and here at Bellfield Clothing it’s easily our most popular product this season so we thought we’d take a look at 3 simple ways in which you style your classic MA-1.

For our first style we are channelling the look of the 60’s and 70’s skinheads (but ignoring their attitude). The skinheads signature look consisted of a classic MA-1 bomber jacket, heavy layering, plain white crew neck t-shirt, skinny jeans and bold footwear. If you don’t want to go for the all-out 70’s skinhead vibe then you can ditch the heavy layering and wear a lighter shade of skinny jeans for a less in-your-face look.

The bomber jacket is so versatile you can wear it with almost anything, which makes it perfect for the sports-luxe look. Joggers (as we mentioned in our ‘Up your joggers game: 3 easy tips’ post) are also an extremely versatile item of clothing, so it makes sense the style to two together. As long as you keep the colours neutral and stick away from prints you can experiment with a variety of tops including t-shirts, baseball tees, oxford shirts and grandad shirts. Cap the look off with a pair of comfortable pumps for the super slick sports-luxe look.

Historically the bomber jackets descends from military roots (click here for more on the history of the bomber jacket), so your initial thought might not be to style your MA-1 with more formal pieces. Well, think again! We’re not suggesting you should team your classic bomber jacket with a full suit, but you can put a casual spin on more formal attire by creating an edgy smart-casual look. Think shirts, chinos and boat shoes for that smart, yet relaxed vibe.
